The Golden Grizzlies officially open the season on Aug. 24 against Oregon State.
The Oakland volleyball team defeated Eastern Michigan 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
Oakland won the 2012 Golden Grizzlies Invitational by beating Iowa in five sets at the Athletics Center O'rena.
Eric Lindstrom enters his eighth season as an assistant coach with the Golden Grizzlies. His positional focus is in training the middle hitter position and during matches he is the defensive coordinator.
A native of Southfield, Michigan, Lindstrom brings a number of years of volleyball experience to the Golden Grizzly program. He is one of the Founders and Co-Directors for Legacy Volleyball Club and is the head coach for Legacy's 17-1's team. Over the years he served as the head coach of the Kaepa Club Unifed 15-National team. Prior to that Lindstrom coached the Oakland Juniors Volleyball Club for two years. He is a board member of the Lakeshore Region High Performance program and holds a USAV Level 1 Coaching Accreditation certificate. Lindstrom began coaching volleyball in 1996 with his father's Walled Lake Central team that reached the MHSAA Final Four in three of his four years.
Lindstrom graduated from Walled Lake Central High School where he was an all-league player in both football and baseball. He played volleyball on the club team at Ferris State for two years from 2002-03. He is currently completing work on a bachelor's degree in sports management from the United States Sports Academy.
