Oakland Has Strong Start at WSU Invitational|

DAYTON, Ohio -- Led by three wins from Emily Raidt, the Oakland tennis team got off to a strong start at the Wright State Invitational on Friday hosted at Thomas Cloud Park. The Golden Grizzlies picked up five singles wins and three doubles victories on day-one of the three-day tournament.
"Overall, I think it was a good day," said head coach Heather Redshaw. "We played some different teams and I saw a lot of good things from our players. We won eight out of 13 matches, which is great and I think we'll continue to get better."
Raidt and her partner Tamara Blum, started the day with a pair of doubles wins. The OU team beat Whittenburg's pair of Leigh Ann Miller and Kristin Wright 8-1, before beating Kayla Tuscany and Alex Bastock from Wright State, 8-2. The Oakland duo advances to the semifinals of Doubles A Flight on Saturday.
Singles play also went well for Oakland with Raidt defeating Miller 6-3, 6-0 in a play-in match. She then dropped a tight match, 6-3, 6-4, to Raina Halabi from Detroit.
Cam Sabourin won 6-3, 6-3 over Chelsea Girgash from Wright State. Blum also won 6-0, 6-2 against Wright. Brittany Baxter earned a straight-set win 6-0, 6-0 against Lexi Garza, while Juliana Guevara notched a win 6-0, 6-2 over Kate Pintauro.
Keating played a tough singles match against Sierra Sullivan from Cincinnati falling 6-2, 6-2. Celis also faced an opponent from Cincinnati in singles, falling 6-2, 6-2.
The teams will be back in action tomorrow at 9 a.m. Oakland will play a pair of singles matches, followed by a doubles match.
