Oakland Completes Play at DePauw Invitational
Sept. 16, 2012
GREENCASTLE, Ind.-- Cam Sabourin picked up her first collegiate win, as Oakland completed play at the DePauw Invitational on Sunday. The Golden Grizzlies won three singles matches. "Today was another positive day for us," said head coach Heather Redshaw. "We changed around some positions for the final day, but still got great matches in singles. Our doubles play still needs some work, but with this many young players I am excited about how we played." Sabourin picked up a straight-set win 6-2, 6-2 over Macey Spear in her No. 3 singles flight. Tamar Blum also won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4 over Taylor Eckert in the No. 2 singles flight. In the No. 6 singles flight Oakland's Brittany Baxter earned an exciting win 10-3 in a super-set tiebreaker for a 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 victory. Making the move to the No. 1 flight, Emily Raidt was impressive and forced a third set tiebreaker. She eventually lost 6-4, 4-6, 10-6. Juliana Guevara also forced a third set, falling 0-6, 6-2, 10-5 in the No. 5 singles flight. In doubles action, Oakland was swept in all flights.
