Aug. 23, 2011

ROCHESTER, Mich.- Seven players have signed to play for the Oakland University softball team in 2012, announced by head coach LaDonia Hughes on Friday. The new additions to the team are Maggie Hildebrand (Berren Springs, Mich.), Courtnee Johnson (Romulus, Mich.), Jackie Kisman (Crystal Lake, Ill.), Kimberly Lohre (Glenview, Ill.), Shelby Metz (Coloma, Mich.), Morgan Muron (Mount Morris, Mich.) and Emily Scharmer (Mankato, Minn.).

"We are excited about this new class, because they bring a lot of diversity and a ton of talent," said Hughes. "We anticipate that a lot of the players coming will compete for spots in the starting lineup and will really provide a boost for our bullpen and bench. This recruiting class has a lot of speed, athleticism and power that will add to our lineup. All of these players are very disciplined, hardworking, and very intense about the game they love."

OU returns eight starters from last year's team that posted a 17-29 record and an 8-16 mark in the league.
