ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland goalkeeper Anne Berschbach earned Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the league-office on Monday. It is the second time this season that the senior from Algonac, Mich. earned the award.

"Anne played great in both games this weekend," said head coach Nick O'Shea. "She was especially brave against the aggressive attackers from Western Illinois and made a few key saves to preserve the shutout."

The senior shot-stopper posted four saves to earn a shutout victory over Western Illinois on Friday, which clinched a spot in The Summit League Championship for the Golden Grizzlies. She followed that performance with three saves in the final 30 minutes of OU's 3-2 win over IUPUI.

Berschbach currently leads The Summit League with an .848 save percentage. She also ranks second in the league with a 0.85 goals-against average. Her four shutouts this season rank third in the league.

The Golden Grizzlies return to action on Friday. The team hosts top-seeded South Dakota State in the semifinals of The Summit League Championship at the OU Soccer Field at 6 p.m. For more information on the tournament, visit the Championship Page at OUGrizzlies.com.
