Oakland's Ecker, Gerber and Kovac Named to NGCA All-American Scholar Team

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Junior Liz Ecker and sophomores Alanna Gerber and Mara Kovac were named to the 2010-11 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team, announced by the NGCA. Ecker and Gerber earn their second NGCA honor, while Kovac collects her first.

Ecker, a junior from Delray Beach, Fla., garnered All-Summit League honors for the third consecutive season after leading the Golden Grizzlies with a stroke average of 77.37, sixth-best in the league. She tallied four top-10 finishes in 2010-11 and 21 of her 27 rounds were in the 70s. Ecker currently holds the school record with a career stroke average of 79.66.

Gerber, a sophomore from Hudsonville, Mich., ranks fifth all-time in school history with a stroke average of 80.66. She posted a scoring average of 79.59 in 2010-11, 10th-best in single-season school history. Gerber finished a career-best tied for 10th at The Summit League Championship with an overall score of 234 (+21).

Kovac saved her best performances of the 2010-11 season for her last two tournaments with a third-place finish at The Summit League Championship (224/+11) and runner-up finish at the Detroit Titans Invitational (238/+22). A native of Lansing, Mich., Kovac broke the school record with a 2-under-par 69 in the second round of the Jackrabbit Invitational on March 14 and her 224 score at the league championship is the second best at a league tournament in program history.
