The Oakland University women's golf team finished 12th out of 12 teams at the Bronco Invitational April 8-9. The tournament was hosted by Western Michigan and was held in Portage, Michigan at The Moors Gold Club (par 73, 5936 yards).
The Golden Grizzlies recorded a 372 on the first day of play and improved by 24 strokes (348) on Monday for the two-day total of 720. Eastern Michigan (639), Bowling Green (658) and Western Michigan (662) claimed the top three spots.
Leading the way for Oakland was sophomore Emily Minnich (Geneva, Indiana) who finished in a tie for 37th place. Minnich shot a 91 on Sunday and followed with an 84 Monday for the two-round 175. Junior Connie Apalit (Pittsburg, California) followed in 42nd place after shooting 176 (92-84).
Senior Jocelyn Fekel (Rochester), sophomore Jenny Quinn (Bloomfield Hills) and junior Laura Cuniffe (Farmington Hills) rounded off the OU golfers for the Bronco Invitational.
Fekel finished in a tie for 56th (92-91--183), Quinn claimed a tie for 62nd (97-89--186) and Cuniffe finished 69th (97-103--200).
The Golden Grizzlies will next be in action April 12-14 at the EKU Lady Colonial Classic in Richmond, Kentucky.
