Gerber Paces Oakland in Final Round of Red Rocks Invitational

SEDONA, Ariz.- Alanna Gerber fired a final round 79 (+7) and finished in 31st place to lead the Oakland women's golf team on the final day of the Red Rocks Invitational at Oakcreek Country Club (Par 72, 6,084 yards) on Sunday.
"We need to remember all the good shots today and use that for next week's tournament," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "If we can just play the par 5 holes at even-par or better, that will improve our team score by 15 strokes or more."
The Golden Grizzlies finished in a tie for 12th with an overall score of 652 (+76). Eastern Michigan won the team title with a final score of 603 (+27), 14 shots ahead of runner-up Seattle as the Redhawks shot 617 (+41).
Kassandra Komma shot her second consecutive round of 80 as she finished the tournament tied for 33rd with an overall score of 160 (+16). Caitlin McCleary won medalist honors with a second round score of 75 to finish the tournament shooting 147 (+3).
The Golden Grizzlies will compete in the Jackrabbit Invitational on March 12-13 in Primm, Nev., site of the 2012 Summit League Championship.
