Former Oakland standout Anne Noja joined head coach Beckie Francis' staff on June 1, 2009. Noja (formerly Hafeli), the No. 10-highest scorer in OU history with 1,469 career points, played for OU from 2002-06. "I am obviously thrilled to have someone of Anne's caliber joining our staff," said Francis. "Being able to bring in another coach who has a familiarity with our system at Oakland, and excelled within that system during her playing days, will be invaluable to our program. She showed incredible leadership during her playing career and I am fully confident that her leadership skills will be a strong complement to our coaching staff." Over the course of her four-year career at Oakland, the Golden Grizzlies made consistent improvement, culminating in a conference title her senior year where the Golden Grizzlies advanced to the NCAA tournament. A two-time all-Mid-Continent Conference selection, Noja averaged 12.6 points for her career, and ranks second all-time at OU in 3-point field goals made with 235. Her .852 free throw percentage also ranks second in OU history. "I am really excited to be joining the program and am hoping to add value as soon as possible," said Noja. While at Oakland, Noja earned several athletic and academic honors, being named CSTV National Athlete of the Week and MVP of the Mid-Con basketball tournament her senior year, in addition to a laundry list of other awards. She also capped her career by being named the Hollie L. Lepley Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner, and was nominated by the Mid-Continent Conference as its candidate for NCAA Woman of the Year. She earned her bachelor's degree in business marketing from OU in 2006. She has since coached with the Michigan Legion club program as an assistant coach for the 16/17u junior S.E.L.E.C.T. team. Since her playing days, Noja has had a successful career in the banking industry, serving for two years as a senior mortgage banker with Quicken Loans, earning top revenue producer and top sales producer awards, producing over $85,000 in revenue in her final month with the company. For the last year, Noja has served as a personal banker at J.P. Morgan Chase, where she has been in charge of retaining and deepening relationship with current customers in addition to bringing in new customers. A native of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Noja will join the OU coaching staff on June 1 and assume her duties as an assistant coach. She will work primarily with recruiting and fundraising, along with assisting in the day-to-day operations of the women's basketball program, including scouting, team travel, compliance, and camps. Noja and her husband, Ramy, reside in Troy, Mich. |
