Oakland Players Collect Men's Soccer Honors|

ROCHESTER, Mich. Kyle Bethel and Scott Messer both earned Summit League Player of the Week honors, announced on Tuesday. Messer was recognized as league defensive player of the week, while Bethel was Summit League Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Messer made seven saves during the week as Oakland won a pair of 1-0 games over Cleveland State and Vermont. With three consecutive shutout victories to start the season, Messeer has not allowed a goal in over 270 minutes of action in the nets. It is the first time that the junior goalkeeper from Clarkston, Mich. has won the award from The Summit League.
Bethel earns his first recognition from CollegeSportsMadness.com after scoring the match-winning goal against Vermont. It was the first goal of his career for the senior forward from Howell, N.J. Bethel tormented opposing defenses all weekend, as he drew a pair of penalty kicks for the Golden Grizzlies agaisnt Cleveland State, including the winning spot kick.
Bethel, Messer and the rest of the Golden Grizzlies are back in action on Sunday with a match against nationally-ranked West Virginia at 1 p.m.
