Oakland Teams Excel in Latest NCAA APR Report

June 20, 2012

INDIANAPOLIS- Led by perfect multi-year scores from the women’s basketball and women's golf teams, Oakland excelled in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the 2010-11 season, released by the NCAA on Wednesday. Baseball (975), men's basketball (970), women's basketball (1000), women's golf (1000), softball (989) and men's swimming and diving (980) all recorded scores higher than the national average within their respective sports.

The women's basketball and women's golf teams were honored earlier in the week with public recognition from the NCAA as their APRs were among the top 10 percent in the nation for their sports.

While teams are judged on multi-year APR, which takes into account the past four academic years, four teams posted a perfect APR for 2010-11. The softball and women’s tennis team joined the women’s golf and basketball squads with a perfect scores of 1000 for the previous academic year (2010-11).

Teams must post a multi-year APR above 900 to avoid NCAA penalties.
