Andrea Gorton joins the Oakland men's soccer staff as the Director of Soccer Operations for the 2011 season. She will be responsible for several administrative duties within the office and also assist with the teams summer soccer camps.

Gorton is the former head women's soccer coach at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kan. After taking over the program in November of 2009, she quickly led the team to the best finish in school history and a trip to the conference tournament. Professionally, Gorton has also worked as a staff coach for camps hosted by South Florida, Iowa State and Kansas.

Following a successful collegiate career, Gorton went on to play professional soccer for the St. Louis Archers (later renamed St. Louis Athletica) of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL).

Gorton holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) D coaching license and currently works as a coach with WAZA FC at the under-10, U-11, U-16 and U-17 level.

A standout player at Western Illinois University, she graduated in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in communication. She was a four year letterwinner for the Westerwinds and served as team captain from 2003-2005.

Gorton is married to Stephen Gorton, an assistant coach with the men's soccer team. The couple currently reside in Rochester, Mich.
