KETTERING, OH.- Freshman Evan Bowser tied an Oakland school record by firing a 6-under-par 65, while Nick Cunningham took home the individual title as the Golden Grizzlies won the UD Invitational hosted by Dayton at the NCR Country Club on Tuesday.
"Today confirmed what I have been saying all fall. There is no limit to how well this team can perform, " said head coach Russ Cunningham. "Patience, confidence and enjoying the game leads to good things happening."
Nick Cunningham wrapped up play with a 73, to win his first career individual title by one stroke.
"I'm so happy for Nick," said Cunningham. "His hard work and leadership has helped take this program in a new direction."
Bowser's final round of 65 tied the Oakland record set by Chris King in the 2002-03 season.
"Evan is an amazing talent. He made nine birdies today," said Cunningham. "His golf inspires everyone to a higher level."
"Cam and Mark showed how competitive they are as the day was special for us all," said Cunningham. "I owe a big thanks to my assistant Matt Zavadil."
Oakland returns to play next February.
