PRIMM, Nev. - Nick Cunningham fired a career-low 68 in the opening round and finished day one in a tie for third place at 2-under-par (140) to lead the Oakland men's golf team to a seventh-place standing (296-292=588/+20) at The Summit League Championship on Primm Valley Desert Course on Monday. His 68 is the lowest-ever score for OU at the league tournament.

"Our problem all season long was making scores over bogey, and today was no different," said OU coach Russ Cunningham. "Nick played great and shot the lowest score of our season."

IUPUI blazed out to the lead with a 265 (-19) in the first round and came a little bit back to the field in the second round with a 291, finishing at 12-under-par 556, 10 shots ahead of IPFW and Southern Utah. The Jaguars' were led by Ben Engle's tournament record 62 in the first 18 holes as Engle holds a three-shot lead over teammate Michael Davan heading into the final round.

All five Golden Grizzlies broke 80 in every round. Trevor Rosekrans and Cameron Nelson each shot 148 (+6) on the opening day and are in a tie for 29th place.
