ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University returns to the friendly confines of the Athletics Center O’rena to host the Lou Henson Award Holiday Tournament, Dec. 20 -21. The Golden Grizzlies have won 15 straight games in the O’rena, the 10th longest streak in NCAA Division I. Keith Benson needs just 16 points to move into the top 30 scorers in Summit League history. He is also chasing the blocked shot record, needing just 33 blocks to break the record of 317 by Keith Closs of Central Connecticut State. Oakland has made a three-pointer in 677 consecutive games, the seventh longest streak in the country. TOURNAMENT TEAMS EASTERN MICHIGAN The Golden Grizzlies trail the series 7-4 although they have won three of the last four meetings. For the Eagles, Brandon Bowdry is averaging 21.7 points and 10.1 rebounds a game. ROCHESTER COLLEGE The Golden Grizzlies lead the series with a 12-0 record. This will be the fourth straight year the two teams have met. The Warriors are led by Ricky Doran (13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 61.9 FG%) and Michael Graham (13.2 points).
VALPARAISO The Golden Grizzlies trail the series 16-3. After losing the first 16 meetings, Oakland has won the last three. For the Crusaders, who are receiving votes in the mid-major poll, Cory Johnson is averaging 14.6 points while Brandon Wood has 14.1 points per game. -30- |
