ROCHESTER, Mich. - Junior transfer forward Raphael Carter was injured at practice last Friday and will be out for a short period of time due to a deep bone bruise, announced head coach Greg Kampe on Tuesday. The Golden Grizzlies are hoping that Carter will not miss too much time.
"We were very concerned when Raphael went down last week, but the MRI was a relief because we now know there is no structural damage," said Kampe. "We're excited that we know he will be back in a couple of weeks."
Carter came to Oakland from Diablo Community College in California where he garnered all-state and all-league accolades. He played 18 minutes in the opening exhibition game versus Davenport (10/30), tallying eight rebounds, four points and one blocked shot.
The Golden Grizzlies will conclude exhibition play tonight versus Defiance at 7 p.m. inside the Athletics Center O'rena. The regular season will start on Friday as Oakland welcomes Albion College for a 7:30 pm. tip.
