Oakland Welcomes Davenport for Exhibition

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's basketball team will take on Davenport University (NAIA) in an exhibition game on Tuesday night inside the Athletics Center O'rena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and it will be free admission. The Golden Grizzlies were picked third in The Summit League Preseason Men's Basketball Poll. OU returns 4 of 5 starters in Travis Bader, Ryan Bass, Corey Petros and Drew Valentine. Bader and Valentine were preseason all-league selections and newcomer Duke Mondy was a preseason popular pick for Summit League Newcomer of the Year. Bader is the top returning three-point shooter in the country. The Okemos, Mich. native made 124 threes last season and led The Summit League. He graduated in just three years with a degree in communication and is working towards his master's degree in communication. Bader averaged 15.9 points per game last season. Valentine has been one of the top defensive players in The Summit League over the last two years. He finished third in rebounding with 7.1 boards per game and scored 11.4 ppg. Petros was named to The Summit League Newcomer Team last season after finishing second with 7.2 rebounds per game. Bass cracked the starting lineup midway through last season and reached double figures in his final three games, including a career-high 22 versus Buffalo in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason tournament. Mondy was forced to sit out last season due to the NCAA transfer rule after coming to Oakland from Providence. During his final season for the Friars, Mondy led the BIG EAST in steals per game with 2.1. #FightOakland
