Oakland won 20 games and made it to the NCAA postseason for the fourth consecutive year in 2011-12, but the Golden Grizzlies failed to win their third straight Summit League title. 2011-12 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

Reggie Hamilton broke the single-season Summit League and school scoring record with 942 points

Hamilton became the first-ever Summit League and OU player to win an NCAA scoring title, finishing with a scoring average of 26.2

Hamilton joins former standout Johnathon Jones as the only two players to lead the country in an NCAA statistical category (Jones led the NCAA with 8.2 assists per game in 2009-10)

Hamilton was the recipient of the 2012 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, given to the nation’s best collegiate basketball player 6-feet and under

OU advanced all the way to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason tournament semifinals with wins over Bowling Green, Buffalo and Rice

The Grizzlies set a new Summit League record with three postseason wins in the same season

Oakland played a school record 18 home games

The Golden Grizzlies led The Summit League in scoring for the third straight season, averaging close to 80 points per game

Oakland’s 877 free-throw attempts set a new single-season school record, No. 2 in the league ledger

The Golden Grizzlies’ 2,875 points ranks third in school and league history

OU finished third in the country with 9.3 treys per game (3rd-best in program history, tops in D-I history)


 

 

The 335 three-point field goals made set a new league record and ranks second all-time in school history

The 36 games played matched a program record set in 2008-09

The Black and Gold made 646 free throws, setting a new school record (2nd in Summit League history)

Travis Bader’s 124 3-pointers made ranks second in program and league history

Hamilton posted a nation’s-best and school record 17 games of 30 points or more

The Golden Grizzlies extended their three-point field goal streak to 736 games (7th-best in the NCAA)

Over the last three seasons, Oakland has the nation’s third-best league record; No. 1 Kansas (45-5, Big 12, No. 2 Murray State (46-6, Ohio Valley) and No. 3 Oakland (45-9, Summit League)

28th-year head coach Greg Kampe picked up his 490th win against Rice in CIT quarterfinals

The Golden Grizzlies finished in the top three of the league standings for the sixth straight year and 9 of 13
