ROCHESTER, Mich. - Korab Imami (6-10, 215) will play his collegiate basketball at Oakland University, announced men's basketball head coach Greg Kampe on Monday. Imami is a native of Peje, Kosovo and will join the team this fall.
"We are very excited to add Korab to our program," said Kampe. "He is a 6-foot-10 perimeter player who has decent post moves. He can go out and guard on the perimeter and he can run pretty well. To get a player of his quality this late is a coup for us. We are very excited to get him. He has to get physically stronger, which he will, but he has tremendous offensive moves and we expect him to be a very good player at Oakland University."
Imami played high school basketball here in the United States last season at Adelphi Christian Academy in Aiken, S.C. last season. He averaged 10 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game and 3.0 blocked shots per game and received the team's Character Award after helping his team to a 24-17 record. He was selected for an all-star game in Augusta, Ga.
The Golden Grizzlies will have three incoming freshmen in 2010-11: Imami, Matt Poches (6-4, 175) and Dante Williams (6-6, 165).
