Oakland Opens New Year with Omaha in the O'rena|

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland (6-9, 1-1) will begin the new year with a home Summit League men's basketball game versus newcomer Omaha (4-12, 1-3) this Thursday, 7 p.m., inside the Athletics Center O'rena.
The Golden Grizzlies enter tomorrow night's game on an eight-game home court winning streak. OU has won 35 of its last 38 league games inside the O'rena.
Travis Bader continues to lead the country with 60 3-pointers made. He leads the league in free-throw percent (90%) and is second in scoring (20.3 ppg).
Duke Mondy leads the league with 43 steals and is currently fourth in the country, one behind the national lead. Since moving to the No. 2 position for the Grizzlies, Mondy has a 2.0 assist/turnover ratio (49 assists, 24 turnovers).
Drew Valentine continues to be a leader for the Golden Grizzlies on the defensive end. He posted a career-best seven steals in OU's 22-point win over IUPUI, which ranks fourth-best in single-game school history, and seventh in league history. Valentine ranks third in the league with 1.8 steals per game.
Defense has been the key for Oakland in its last two wins. The Golden Grizzlies held the Jaguars to a season-low 38 percent shooting, and held Eastern Michigan to just 40 percent shooting. OU is 4-2 this season when its opponent shoots less than 45 percent.
The Grizzlies are an astounding 61-12 in their last 73 games versus Summit League opponents. Over the last four-plus seasons (2008-present), OU has won 15 more league games than any other league member.
