Oakland Signees Selected in Major League Baseball Draft|

ORLANDO, Fla. - Oakland University baseball commitments Skylar Janisse and Brett Impemba were both selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Thursday. The players were selected by the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers respectively.
"It is a tremendous honor for two of our incoming student athletes to be selected in the Major League amateur draft," said Oakland head coach John Musachio. "Skylar and Brett are both tremendous baseball players and very deserving. I am very exited and happy for them, as well as the exposure & credibility it brings to the Oakland baseball program"
Janisse, a right-handed pitcher from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was taken by the New York Yankees in the 34th round of the draft.
Impemba, a catcher/outfielder from Sterling Heights, Mich., was picked by the Detroit Tigers in the 49th round.
It is the second consecutive year that an incoming Oakland player was taken in the draft. Jake Morton was taken by the Detroit Tigers in the 2010 draft.
