CHICAGO - Ian Yetsko went 2-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored, while five pitchers scattered just four hits without allowing a run as the Oakland baseball team (12-31, 7-17 HL) won the regular season finale over UIC (24-25, 17-13 HL), 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium. With the win, head coach John Musachio becomes the all-time winningest coach in program history at 136 victories.

"Just a great way to end our regular season," said Musachio. "Our bullpen did a fantastic job today. We played strong fundamentally and had great two-out at bats. We are playing our best baseball of the year at the right time."

Starter Jake Paulson earned his fourth win of the season allowing just one hit in 3.0 innings while striking out two batters. Nate Lewis earned his second save of the season tossing the final 2.0 innings fanning one batter. Luke Scharich, Collin Gee and Luke McCatty combined to throw 4.0 innings allowing just three men to get on base.

OU scored two runs in the fifth inning as Ian Yetsko drove home Tyler Janish with a single through the left side followed by Robby Enslen with a double down the left-field line to plate Yetsko. Oakland added one run in the eighth inning on a Spencer Marentette RBI-single to score Trent Drumheller from second base.

UIC had a scoring chance in the second inning with the bases loaded but Paulson was able to get the final out of the inning with a strikeout without allowing a run. In the fourth inning the Flames loaded the bases again with just one out, but Scharich was able to get Philbin to bounce into a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat.

Oakland finished the game with three runs on 10 hits, while UIC did not score a run on four hits and committed three errors.

The Golden Grizzlies will travel to the Horizon League tournament next week in Mequon, Wis., hosted by Milwaukee. OU will play on Wednesday at Kapco Stadium as either the No. 5 or 6 seed.
