ROCHESTER, Mich. - Jason Hager threw a complete game in game one and Zach Sterry blasted two home runs in game two as the Oakland baseball team (10-29, 5-15 HL) won both games of a doubleheader over Milwaukee (17-25, 8-12 HL), 8-1 and 9-6, Saturday afternoon at the OU Baseball Field.

"Jason Hager and Tim Koons were outstanding on the mound today and they've been outstanding all year," said coach John Musachio. "We needed two strong starts and that is what we got. Our boys played well, they were loose, had a great time and no coincidence that we play well when we have fun."

In game one, Hager threw nine innings allowing just one run on four hits with six strikeouts for his second win of the season. UWM's Brian Keller suffered the loss tossing 6.0 innings allowing five runs on 10 hits.

The Golden Grizzlies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning as Trent Drumheller led off with a solo home run and Jared Theisen had a RBI-single to center field. OU added to its lead in the fourth inning on a Drumheller RBI-double and Sterry drove in a run with a single to right field to make the score 5-0. In the seventh inning OU would score twice on a double by Tyler Pagano and a single by Trent Pell.

Oakland finished the game with eight runs on 14 hits, while Milwaukee had one run on four hits and committed one error.

In the nightcap, the game was tied 4-4 in the eighth inning until Oakland scored five runs to take a 9-4 advantage. With two outs, Robby Enslen hit a solo home run to right field and two batters later Sterry would blast a two-run home run.

Oakland came out swinging to start the game as Sterry hit a two-run home run to right field in the first inning. OU added a run in the second inning as Mike Brosseau walked with the bases loaded then in the fifth inning Spencer Marentette doubled to right-center field to plate Theisen to lead 4-1.

Milwaukee would tie the game as Pat Wilson hit a RBI-single in the sixth inning and Derek Peake drove home two runs in the seventh inning with a double down the righ-field line.

Tim Koons won his third game of the season throwing 8.0 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and struck out seven batters. Tell Taylor took the loss giving up five runs on 0.2 innings pitched.

OU finished game two with nine runs on 11 hits with one error. UWM had six runs on five hits with no errors.

The series finale between Oakland and Milwaukee will be played Sunday at the OU Baseball field beginning at noon. Sunday is also Senior Day as the Golden Grizzlies will honor Jason Hager, Tim Koons and Jared Theisen after the game.
