Oakland Wins Series Finale over Ohio, 6-2

ATHENS, Ohio -- Nolan Jacoby had four hits, including three doubles, as Oakland (2-8) won, 6-2, over Ohio (2-10) on Sunday at Bob Wren Stadium. The Golden Grizzlies equaled a season-high with 11 hits and scored six unanswered runs.

Starting pitcher Tim Koons (1-2) held Ohio to just two runs over eight innings to earn the first win of his Oakland career.  Koons struck out seven batters for the second time this season.

Jacoby finished the day 4-for-5 at the plate, scored twice and drove in a run. Kyle Bobolts drove in three runs for the Golden Grizzlies and along with Chris Van Dyke went 2-for-4.  

Bobolts scored on a sacrifice fly by Spencer Marentette in the fifth inning for Oakland's first run of the game. In the sixth, Jacoby doubled and later scored on a single by Jared Theisen. Oakland took the lead in the same inning when Bobolts singled to score Theisen.

Jacoby doubled to start an OU rally in the eighth inning as Bobolts hit two-RBI single to provide a pair of insurance runs. Jacoby's third double of the game came in the ninth inning driving in Mike Carson.

Connor Sitz (0-2) took the loss for Ohio, going 5.1 innings and striking out four. Russell Luxton pitched the ninth inning for Oakland and did not allow a run in the non-save situation.

The Golden Grizzlies won two of the three games in the series with the Bobcats. Oakland return to action against Michigan on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
