ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Katelynne Hartman and Alex Katona were awarded with The Summit League's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at the GVSU Holiday Open last weekend, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. It is the first time either athlete has won the league's weekly awards.

Katona collects his first career Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor after winning the 800-meter run at the GVSU Holiday Open, his second-straight win in the 800 meters in as many meets. The sophomore won the event with a league-best time of 1:56.22, which ranks 34th in the nation. He was also a part of the Golden Grizzlies 4x400 relay team which posted a time 3:24.80, the second-best league time this season.

Hartman garners her first career Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award after setting a school record and second-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 41'11.5" (12.79m) at the GVSU Holiday Open. Her mark ranks in the league's top 10 for the season. She also competed in the weight throw with a distance of 40'11.75" (12.49m).

Oakland will be in action on Jan. 13 as they travel to Central Michigan to compete in the Chip Invite in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
