MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Nicholas Girodat recorded a new school record in the men's 200-meter dash with a second-place finish of 22:58 while teammate Chris Scott ran an exceptional meet with an individual win in the 800m (1:55.89) and a relay victory as the anchor of the 4x400 team that recorded a 3:25.53. Both the men's and women's teams took second to host, Central Michigan 92-46 and 85-45 respectively.
"This was a great meet overall," commented head coach Paul Rice. "Probably the highlight of the meet was the men's 4x400 race - to see the entire team on the track cheering for our guys was really great. Many of our athletes had excellent performances today, which gives us a lot to look forward to heading into next week's meet at Fort Wayne."
Serena San Cartier won the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.00. Also for the women, Meagan Joiner had a great meet all around, competing in four events - the 60m hurdles, 600m run, the long jump and the triple jump - and ended with strong performances in each.
Oakland competes next at ex-league foe, IPFW for the IPFW Quad Meet on Saturday, Jan. 25 inside the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
