Oakland Swimming and Diving Hosts Black and Gold Alumni Meets|

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted their annual Black and Gold Meet and Alumni Meet over the weekend at the OU Aquatic Center. Director of Athletics Tracy Huth and longtime head swim coach Pete Hovland swam in a 400-yard race as Huth won by 33 seconds.
Huth and Hovland swam as the swimming and diving alumni raised over $5,000 for the program. Huth, a 13-time individual national champion as a swimmer at Oakland, swam the 400-I.M. and Hovland, a five-time individual national champion at Chico State and won four team national titles as a swimmer, swam the 400-Freestyle. Huth finished with a time of 4:43 and Hovland touched the wall at 5:16.
In the Black and Gold meet, the Gold Team won over the Black Team 201-188. The Gold Team was led by Vanessza Balogh who won the 500-Free (5:11.98) and the 200-yard Breaststroke (2:29.12) and Nick Evans who won the 200-Free (1:42.40) and the 500-Free (4:42.55).
Both teams will be in the pool next week as they will be a part of the Michigan Water Festival hosted by the University of Michigan at Canham Natatorium on Saturday starting at noon.
