One of the most outstanding female swimmers in the history of the program, Amy Lynn Albiero is among the elite nationwide in her sport. While at OU she earned 27 all-American honors, was a 12-time national champion, the 1992 NCAA Division II Swimmer of the Year and was an NCAA record holder in three events.

Albiero was a member of four NCAA Championship teams during her four-year career at Oakland -- 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994. Individually she was a five-time champion, winning three titles in the 100-yard backstroke and one each in the 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

The Belleville, Ohio native set the NCAA Division II record in the 100-yard backstroke (55.49) and was a part of the record setting 200-yard medley and freestyle relays. Albiero also holds the school records in the 100-yard backstroke (55.49), the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.26) and the 200 individual medley (2:05.99). She was also a part of the school record setting 200 and 400-yard medley relays and 200-yard freestyle relay.

During the summers both Albiero and her husband are swimming and diving coaches at the Laurence Beach Club (Long Island, New York). Albiero, who currently swims with the Masters Team in Alabama, also enjoys running and in 1998 she completed her first marathon (Cleveland, Ohio).

A psychology (exercise science) major, Albiero graduated from Oakland University in 1995 with a bachelors degree in Arts and Sciences. Albiero, her husband Arthur, and their two children, Estefan and Nicolas, reside in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
