2010-11 Year in Review Accolades
• Oakland completes 12th year of Division I competition
• Oakland captured The Summit League Food Fight title for the second time in three years, raising over 11,000 pounds of food that were donated to Lighthouse of Oakland County
• OU finished second in the NIKE Campus Roar Campaign, a national initiative by NIKE to find the best school slogan using the phrase, "OH YEAH, OU!"
• After capturing its second consecutive Summit League regular season and tournament championships, the men's basketball team finished with its best-ever ranking of No. 8 in the final Mid-Major Poll
• Men's Basketball matched its league record 17-1 mark and .944 league winning percentage
• Keith Benson garnered Associated Press All-America honors for the second straight season, becoming the first OU player to accomplish that feat
• Benson became the first-ever Summit League player to earn Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in the same season
• Both the men's and women's swimming and diving programs captured their 12th consecutive Summit League titles
• Swimmers Vanessza Balogh, Sandra Czerska, Amr el Sayed, Nick Evans, Johanna Gustafsson, Tobias Hansen and Marcin Unold earned Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention honors
• Balogh and Unold captured Summit League Swimmers of the Year awards, while Chelsea Oates and Jordan Zendejas were named Divers of the Year
• Women's Basketball advanced to its seventh Summit League tournament championship game
• Men's Cross Country and Track and Field standout Zack Jones was named CoSIDA Academic All-District first team
• Women's Soccer posted an unbeaten record (8-0-1) in league play to capture its eighth Summit League regular-season title and went undefeated for the fourth time in program history in the league
• Pete Hovland (women's swimming and diving), Greg Kampe (men's basketball), Nick O'Shea (women's soccer) and Paul Rice (women's cross country) were all named Summit League Coach of the Year
• Men's Soccer captured its third league tournament title and advanced to its fifth NCAA tournament
• Volleyball standout Brittany Dunn led Oakland to a third-place finish and earned Defensive Player of the Year accolades
• The Golden Grizzlies hosted the NCAA Great Lakes Cross Country Regional Championships for the first time in program history at Katke-Cousins Golf Course
• OU also hosted The Summit League Men's Soccer Championship
• Women's Tennis boasted their highest-ever finish in The Summit League with a tie for fourth-place standing, just missing qualifying for their first-ever tournament championship
• Zack Jones and Lia Jones (only brother and sister combination at the meet) both advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship Semifinals
• Women's Golf finished third at The Summit League Championship after being seeded eighth
• Baseball defeated Central Michigan, Michigan State and Western Michigan in the same season for the first time in program history and went 5-2 against Mid-American Conference teams
