MINUTES OF THE FISCAL INTEGRITY SUBCOMMITTEE

OCTOBER 8, 2003, 10:00 A.M.

Present:          Ed Nolan, Gadis Dillon, Simon Dover, Edward Farragher, Marjorie Goodhue, Jack Mehl, Nicholas O’Shea, Ryan Rzepka, Linda Switzer, Cheryl Verbruggan, Victor Zambardi, Jane Bentham

Jack Mehl explained that the Steering Committee had met and determined that each of the subcommittees would meet to review the report as submitted to the NCAA to make sure that all components of their subcommittee’s report were accurate.

The four plans as submitted by the Fiscal Integrity Subcommittee were discussed and clarified.  Jack Mehl will consult with President Russi to begin to discuss the plans.

Plan #1 - staffing of baseball and volleyball as it related to the Mid-Continent Conference review.

Plan #2 - sufficiency of the operational budget of baseball and how money was raised for that sport relative to other sports.

Plan #3 - women’s tennis not having a facility on campus and the team feeling that they are disconnected to other teams.

Plan #4 - student-athlete financial aid verification.  The verification should be done outside the Athletics Department.  This plan will have the most impact as this has been recommended from the beginning of the move to Division I.

Ryan Rzepka will represent the subcommittee for the cable television taping and the town hall meeting.
