MINUTES OF THE FISCAL INTEGRITY SUBCOMMITTEE

APRIL 2, 2003, 2:00 P.M.

Present:          Ed Nolan, Nick O’Shea, Cheryl Verbruggan, Gadis Dillon, Linda Switzer, Marjorie Goodhue, Simon Dover, Jane Bentham

Discussion continued on Operating Principle 3.2.7 with changes as recommended by Jack Mehl.  Nick O’Shea will present a written report on facilities as it impacts the soccer program.  Ed Nolan will make the changes in the draft report.

Operating Principle 3.3 (b) was addressed: Enrolled student-athletes are not provided with benefits that are expressly prohibited by NCAA legislation.

Ed Nolan reported on the problems that Heath Senour found when checking on student-athletes financial aid with regard to over awards and under awards.  This issue was caught and corrected, however, procedures need to be addressed so that this is not an ongoing problem.  Ed asked to have a meeting set up with Cindy Hermsen, Financial Aid Director, Robert Johnson, Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and Tracy Huth, Associate Athletic Director, to address this question.

Ed Nolan distributed President Russi’s response to Operating Principle 3.2.6 which will be incorporated in the draft report.

The next meeting of the Fiscal Integrity Subcommittee will be April 10, 2:00 p.m. in the Athletics Center.
