NCAA SELF-STUDY
CERTIFICATION MINUTES
OF THE FISCAL INTEGRITY SUBCOMMITTEE MARCH
6, 2003, 2:00 P.M. Present:
Ed Nolan, Gadis Dillon, Simon Dover, Edward Farragher, Nicholas O’Shea,
Ryan Rzepka, Linda Switzer, Cheryl Verbruggan, Tracy Huth, Jane Bentham Ed Nolan convened a discussion
on Operating Principle 3.2.7. Ed
Nolan, Simon Dover and Linda Switzer comprised a subcommittee responsible for
addressing 3.2.7 and prepared a draft response. The draft had been previously emailed to all members of the
subcommittee. Ed Nolan also handed
out various support materials including three years of Athletic Department
financial statements to facilitate the ensuing discussion. The Fiscal Integrity
Subcommittee is to determine whether each sport at OU meets the criteria set
forth in 3.2.7. Committee members
were encouraged to voice their opinions and raise questions.
Ed also reminded everyone that for each no answer, the subcommittee must
come up with a plan as required by the NCAA.
Discussion followed. The committee completed
discussion on all tier one sports and some tier two sports (through women’s
softball). Consensus was reached on
responses to the questions raised in operating principle 3.2.7. Minor revisions were suggested
for the draft documents discussed. Ed
will see that the changes are made. Since we didn’t finish
discussing the draft, another meeting of the Fiscal Integrity Subcommittee has
been scheduled for Thursday, March 13,
2:00-5:00 p.m. in the Honors College Conference Room. |
