NCAA SELF-STUDY
CERTIFICATION MINUTES
OF THE EQUITY AND WELFARE SUBCOMMITTEE FEBRUARY
27, 2003, 1:0 P.M. Present:
Glenn McIntosh, Dawn Aubry, Brian Bouwman, Helen Ellison, Terri Eudy,
Thomas Ford, Amy Hirschman, Peter Nacy, Katherine Rowley, Gloria Sosa, Jane
Bentham Glenn McIntosh reiterated that
this subcommittee is the most cumbersome and asked if everyone was on track to
meet the deadline. Kathy Rowley, Welfare and
Sportmanship Issues, reported that their sub subcommittee could have a draft
report by next week and asked for a deadline date.
She also noted that the University of Wyoming’s self-study was the best
and they are using that format. Helen Ellison and Gloria Sosa,
Minority Issues, stated that in their research they will note the process for
future students and ideas that will not cost the university. They will include Jack and Tracy in their research and also
noted that a section in the Athletics Department policies and procedures manual
relating to diversity issues needs to be added. Teri Eudy and Amy Hirschman,
Gender Issues, noted that they have another meeting on March 7 and they have had
interviews with Tom Ford concerning the training room and will also be meeting
with coaches pertaining to equipment, supplies, practice times, weight room,
etc. They also will be meeting with
Denise McGee concerning scheduling of facilities. The Title IX Committee also meet with the sub subcommittee. Everyone agreed that the
University of Wyoming’s self-study format was one we could use. You can find it on http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/nw/athleticsncaa/equity.htm Glenn asked the sub
subcommittees to send minutes of their meetings to Jane Bentham so that they can
be included in the notebook. Glenn asked that you e-mail
your draft reports to him by March 14 or sooner so that they can be presented at
the Steering Committee meeting on March 18. The next meeting of the Equity
and Welfare Subcommittee will be March 21
from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Athletics Center. |
