NCAA SELF-STUDY CERTIFICATION

MINUTES OF EQUITY AND WELFARE SUBCOMMITTEE

NOVEMBER 7, 2002, 9:00 A.M.

Present:          Glenn McIntosh, Dawn Aubry, Brian Bouwman, Helen Ellison, Teri Eudy, Tom Ford, Amy Hirschman, Peter Hovland, Bozenna Johnson, Karen Lloyd, Katherine Rowley, Gloria Sosa, Tracy Huth, Jane Bentham

Glenn explained that the members of the subcommittee were chosen as individuals who could lend their expertise to the process.

The subcommittee’s task was broken down into three components: Minority Issues, Gender Issues, and Welfare and Sportsmanship.  The operating principles 4.1 and 4.2 will require a formalized written plan.

These three components were then assigned sub subcommittee chairs and members:

            Minority Issues - Co-Chaired by Helen Ellison and Gloria Sosa

                                         Gail Ryckman and Brian Bouwman  

            Gender Issues - Co-Chaired by Amy Hirschman and Teri Eudy

                                         Bozenna Johnson, Dawn Aubry and Pete Nacy

            Welfare & Sportsmanship - Co-Chaired by Kathy Rowley and Karen Lloyd

                                                            Tom Ford and Pete Hovland

The sub subcommittees will meet at least twice a month and the entire Equity and Welfare Subcommittee will meet on December 11 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Elliott Room of the Athletics Center.  The draft of the report from the subcommittee will be due March 1.
