NCAA SELF-STUDY CERTIFICATION

MINUTES OF THE COMPLIANCE SUBCOMMITTEE

FEBRUARY 14, 2003

Present:          Bill Macauley, Vic Zambardi, Laura Cowham, Edward Grom, Greg Kampe, Denise McGee, Henry Mittelstaedt, Heath Senour, Steve Shablin, Robert Stewart, Taeko Yakoyama, Jane Bentham

Each of the sub-subcommittees presented their reports.  Robert Johnson will be sending his part of the eligibility report to Bill Macauley.  Any thoughts or feedback should be sent by e-mail to Bill by February 28. The draft reports should answer the self-study items in the instrument.  The next meeting of the subcommittee has been tentatively set for March 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the Athletics Conference Room.

It was recommended by Steve Shablin that members of the subcommittee should attend the NCAA Compliance Seminars that are presented in May.  Vic Zambardi will discuss the recommendation with the Steering Committee at their meeting in March.

Ed Grom was asked about testing random student-athletes and track them through the process.  He also recommended that the testing include transfers, four year and international student-athletes.
