An 11-year coaching veteran, Tara Palmer will begin her seventh season as the varsity cheerleading coach at Oakland in 2011-12. Palmer is certified through the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators.

In August of 2011, Palmer coaches Oakland to its first Gold Full Paid Bid to the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Nationals. She also coached the squads' first NCA All-American, Lisa Persichetti.

A 2004 graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Palmer is currently pursuing her master's in business administration at Wayne State.

In addition to her duties at OU, Palmer also works as a commodity manager for an automotive supplier. She currently resides in Waterford, Mich. with her husband Mike and dog Ellie.
