Mittelstaedt |
Henry "Hank" Mittelstaedt is the perfect example
of a goodwill ambassador for Oakland University. Not only is he a member of the
President's Club, Golf Outing Committee and the Oakland 100 Club, but he has linked
OU with a wide range of community organizations, including the Oakland Live Y'ers and
the Heart of the Hills Swim Club.
Mittelstaedt is probably best known at OU for refereeing
men's and women's swimming and diving meets. He is an United States Swimming
referee and has officiated 11 national championships and three Michigan High School State
Championships. His long list of championships also include the 1999 National Independent
Conference and Mid-Continent Conference Championships.
The 1996 Oakland Live Y'ers Swim Club Worker of the
Year, Mittelstaedt was an instructor of the Division of Continuing Education, Legal
Assistant Certificate Program, at OU from 1990-94. He served on the Meadow Brook Music
Festival Committee (1989-91) and recently was a speaker at the 1999 MIRSA State Workshop
for OU's Department of Recreation. He was also the Dale Propson Coach of the Year in
1988 as awarded by the Rochester Youth Soccer League.
Mittelstaedt's community service goes well beyond the
boundries of Oakland University. He is a past president of the Kiwanis Club and Oakland
Live Y'ers and has served as chairman and board member of the North Oakland County
YMCA.
A 1969 graduate of Michigan State, Mittelstaedt received
his Juris Doctorate rom Wayne State Law School in 1974. Mittelstaedt and his wife Linda
reside in Rochester Hills and they have two children, Brian and Anne. |
