Oakland Announces Organizational Changes to Senior Staff

Adrian Kowal, Gordie Lindsay, Scott MacDonald and Elisabeth Putnam were elevated to Assistant AD.

Scott MacDonald was elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications on April 1, 2012.He previously served as the Director of Athletic Communications from 2007-12. MacDonald serves as the primary contact for men's basketball, men's and women's golf.

MacDonald was instrumental in Oakland developing one of the top websites in the country in 2008. He has also been a key part of implementing a strategic plan in 2010 and '12. He helped develop the first-ever annual report at Oakland in 2008-09 and worked as an assistant media coordinator at the 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four and the 2008 NCAA Regional Championship, both at Ford Field. He has also served as The Summit League Championship Manager for several of the league championships on the OU campus.

Georgia Tech (2003-07), Assistant Director of Athletic Communications
Assistant contact for football, primary contact for men's and women's track and field, men's and women's swimming and diving and softball. Basketball and football gameday program editor.

Assisted in two NCAA Basketball Regional Championships and an NCAA Final Four at the Georgia Dome. The softball team went to four consecutive NCAA Regional tournaments and the football team made four consecutive bowl game appearances, including a Gator Bowl invitation in 2006.

North Carolina (2002-03), Athletic Communications Assistant
Primary contact for men's and women's cross country, softball and wrestling. Gameday program editor for football.

The softball team advanced to the NCAA Regional tournament in Fresno, Calif., and the wrestling team and cross country teams posted top 25 finishes. Assisted with football practices and interview requests.

Oakland University (1999-02), Sports Information Graduate Assistant
Served as primary contact for all 14 intercollegiate sports during his three years. Worked mostly with women's basketball, baseball, men's soccer and women's soccer.

Part of the first-ever Division I NCAA Tournament qualifier as the women's hoops squad won the 2002 Mid-Con tournament to advance to NCAA tournament and face top-seeded Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn.

Education
Earned a master's degree from Oakland in 2002 in public administration. Received a bachelor's degree in physical education and sports management from St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, N.C. in 1999.

Athletic Career
During his baseball career at Henry Ford Community College (1994-95) and St. Andrews Presbyterian College (1996-98), MacDonald garnered all-league and all-region honors and finished with eight or more wins on the hill in two consecutive seasons (1996, '97). He led the team in strikeouts and finished amongst the national leaders in earned run average and strikeouts, helping the SAPC pitching staff finish second in the nation in ERA. He also lettered for two seasons in golf at St. Andrews College.

A 1994 Lahser High School graduate, MacDonald was named Athlete of the Year after his senior season and earned nine varsity letters. He garnered all-state honors in hockey, becoming just the second player in school history to accomplish that feat. He finished 14th at the MHSAA Class A Boys Golf State Championship, leading the Knights to a third-place finish, earning all-league and all-district honors. MacDonald was also an all-league, all-district and all-area baseball player in two consecutive seasons.
