OU Soccer Field
Opened for play in 2001, the OU Soccer Field has served as the home field for the Oakland University men's and women's soccer programs. The 120 x 75-yard field is seeded with Kentucky bluegrass and rye and has helped the OU teams post a strong homefield advantage as the squads have consistently been on top of The Summit League since joining Division I in 1998. The men's program has compiled a 417-163-64 record in 35 years of competition, while the women's program has posted a 172-96-15 record in its 15 years of competition. The field accommodates 1,000 fans, which has certainly played a factor in the Golden Grizzlies men posting a 41-16-8 record, and the Golden Grizzlies women posting a 35-24-5 record on the OU Soccer Field. In 2008, Oakland's men played hosted to its first NCAA College Cup game at the OU Soccer Field, where they took on 2007 College Cup runner-up Ohio State University. OU will host the 2009 Summit League Men's Soccer Championship, marking the third time in four seasons that the Golden Grizzlies have served as the host team. Oakland's women have also hosted the Summit League championship three times. In addition to competing at the OU Soccer Field, both the Golden Grizzlies men's and women's programs will host three games at the Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. The complex has three full size indoor soccer fields, as well as locker rooms and various restaurants. OU also trains at the state-of-the-art facility.
