De'Andre Shepard is one of the newest members of the Oakland athletics staff, taking over the duties as the department's athletics academic advisor in August of 2005. He assists Golden Grizzly student-athletes achieve their academic goals, helping to develop programs that enhance the awareness of career exploration, provide guidance using tutorial assistance programs and connect student-athletes to campus resources. Before moving to Oakland Shepard was a special education teacher in the Oak Park (Michigan) school district from 2002-04. He also served as a violence prevention consultant in the Detroit Public Schools in 2004 and was a special lecturer at OU. A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Shepard received his bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in business administration from Oakland in 2002. He was awarded a Master's degree in speech communication/organizational communication from Wayne State in 2004. He played collegiate basketball at both Wright State (1996-97) and Oakland (1997-98). |
