Simon Dover joined the Oakland athletics staff
as the business manager in November of 1998. In the summer of 2000 he was
promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Finance and Administration and
in January of 2006 was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for
Internal Operations. Dover is responsible for managing the multi-million
dollar athletic budget, contract negotiations, financial aid for
student-athletes and as is an active part of the departments planning
initiatives. Dover oversees the facility/event management and athletic
training operations. Dover’s also has supervisory responsibility for Men’s
and Women’s Soccer, Cross Country and Track.
A native of Rochester, Dover came to Oakland in 1998 from the Palace of
Auburn Hills and Palace Sports and Entertainment where he worked from
1991-1998. Prior to The Palace, Dover worked in public accounting from
1988–91.
Dover, a 1988 graduate of Oakland with a bachelor’s degree in accounting,
received his masters of finance degree in 1998 from Walsh College. He is a
member of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the College Athletic
Business Managers Association. Dover resides in Rochester, Michigan with
his wife Janice and their two children, Harrison and Haley. |
