Kevin Williams earned his reputation as a basketball standout in a rugged phase of the game. In one game and in one season, no one in Oakland University history has more rebounds than Kevin.

The season was 1975-76, Kevin’s senior campaign. That year he had a school-high 340 rebounds, something no one else has ever done. Towards the end of that season, a February 11 game against Hillsdale, Kevin was credited with 26 rebounds, a total no pioneer has exceeded. That year Kevin was GLIAC Player of the Week three times and earned first team All-GLIAC honors. The previous season, his first two was team captain, Kevin gave a sign of things to come by gathering 282 rebounds, currently the seventh best in Oakland history.

Kevin, who served as assistant director of Oakland University’s Project Upward Bound from 1978-86, won an Outstanding Young Men of America Award while a student, and while an Oakland University employee, received the Staff/Faculty Link Award and was nominated for the AP of the Year Award..
