| Kevin Williams earned his
reputation as a basketball standout in a rugged phase of the game. In one game and in one
season, no one in Oakland University history has more rebounds than Kevin. The season was 1975-76, Kevins senior campaign. That year he
had a school-high 340 rebounds, something no one else has ever done. Towards the end of
that season, a February 11 game against Hillsdale, Kevin was credited with 26 rebounds, a
total no pioneer has exceeded. That year Kevin was GLIAC Player of the Week three times
and earned first team All-GLIAC honors. The previous season, his first two was team
captain, Kevin gave a sign of things to come by gathering 282 rebounds, currently the
seventh best in Oakland history.
Kevin, who served as assistant director of Oakland
Universitys Project Upward Bound from 1978-86, won an Outstanding Young Men of
America Award while a student, and while an Oakland University employee, received the
Staff/Faculty Link Award and was nominated for the AP of the Year Award.. |
