Jack Mehl and Ken
Osmun |
During his Oakland University career, Ken Osmun literally
ran away from the competition. Ken finished in 11th place in the 10,000 meters
at the NCAA Nationals in 1990, with a time of 30.14. He was All-Region and All-Conference
from 1986-88 and again in 1990. Ken was Runner of the Year in the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and overall GLIAC Conference Champion in 1990. He was
also OUs first All-American cross country runner.
Ken also found time to be a disc jockey for OUs radio
station and to be the maintenance supervisor for OUs Meadow Brook Health Enhancement
Institute. He excelled academically too, earning a grade point average of 3.5 and a
bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.
After graduation, Ken delayed using an NCAA post-graduation
scholarship. Instead he joined the Navy where he is a lieutenant and public worker officer
at Great Lake Naval Training Center in the Chicago area. He supervises bas repairs and new
construction. |
