Jack Mehl and Ken Osmun

During his Oakland University career, Ken Osmun literally ran away from the competition. Ken finished in 11th place in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Nationals in 1990, with a time of 30.14. He was All-Region and All-Conference from 1986-88 and again in 1990. Ken was Runner of the Year in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and overall GLIAC Conference Champion in 1990. He was also OU’s first All-American cross country runner.

Ken also found time to be a disc jockey for OU’s radio station and to be the maintenance supervisor for OU’s Meadow Brook Health Enhancement Institute. He excelled academically too, earning a grade point average of 3.5 and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.

After graduation, Ken delayed using an NCAA post-graduation scholarship. Instead he joined the Navy where he is a lieutenant and public worker officer at Great Lake Naval Training Center in the Chicago area. He supervises bas repairs and new construction.
