| One of the most visible sights at
any Oakland University basketball game occurs at halftime. That’s when the Images
Dance Team takes the floor to entertain the crowd during the intermission. The person
responsible for both the existence and the quality of the dance team is Rebecca Girard. Rebecca founded Images as a student organization six years ago to
both support and build spirit for athletics. Rebecca left a paid high school coaching
position to volunteer her efforts in starting the team, and has worked solely as a
volunteer during the six years the team has existed. In that time the team has provided
excellent entertainment for basketball crowds during the halftime break.
The team has improved in quality and quantity in the six
years. With Rebecca’s guidance, the team has received superior honors at the
Universal Dance Association College National Championships in the Division II category in
each of the last three years.
Rebecca works as a business consultant at Anderson
Consulting and lives in Royal Oak. |
