| The first man to go under 21
seconds in the 50 yard freestyle in Oakland mens swimming history, Gordon Geheb was
one of OUs top freestylers in the early eighties, a multi-time All-American, and a
member of OUs 1980 national championship team. Gordon
earned 17 All-American honors in his four years at Oakland, all in freestyle events. He
earned national honors in the 400 and 800 free relay all four years, and claimed his three
national titles in the relay events. He also earned individual All-American honors in the
50, 100 and 200 free in each of his last three years, including the national championship
season. His 1981 800 relay unit set a national record, while he once held the school
record in the 50, 100, and 200 free, and with the 400 and 800 free relay squad.
A1983 winner of an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, Gordon
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Wisconsin, and is currently working on an MBA at the University of Michigan.
