Meally Freeman was one of the most exciting forwards ever to play soccer at Oakland University. Meally led the Pioneers in both goals and points during his two seasons at Oakland, and earned All-America status after senior year.

Meally transferred to Oakland from Rogers State College after coming to the United States from his native Liberia. In his first season, 1984, Meally led the Pioneers with 16 goals and 10 assists for 42 points. The Pioneers recorded a 16-3-1 record and earned their third straight NCAA Tournament Bid.

Meally again led OU in goals and points as a senior, finding the net 13 times and adding six assists for 34 points. The Pioneers were denied an NCAA bid that year despite a 14-3-1 record . Meally scored both OU goals in a big 2-1 overtime win over Akron, at the time a nationally ranked NCAA Division I team. Meally became just the third soccer All-American in OU history that season.
