| If one picked a descriptive title
to characterize Dave Birkholtz, it might just be "Dedicated Peace Officer." For
over 16 years Dave has served the Oakland University community as an OU police officer.
During that time he has received a life-saving award in 1994 and a Department Commendation
for investigative police work in 1995. In addition, Dave has been elected president of the
Patrol Officers Union. In terms of service to OU
athletics, Dave organizes the Police Golf Scramble which provides annual support to
OU’s outstanding men’s golf program. This one day outing, held each year, brings
together many outstanding individuals who might otherwise not participate in a university
function. Dave’s efforts and those of his fellow officers, reflect the highest level
of community spirit and service and is duly recognized through the Wibby Award. |
