| Recognized as the top volleyball
player in school history Tracey Jones Bearden was responsible for a number of firsts at
Oakland. Along with holding eight school records, Tracey was the first player in school
history to be selected to the All-Region Team and to be chosen GLIAC Player of the Year. Tracey earned both of those honors in 1988, when she led Oakland to
a 25-7 record and the GLIAC Championship with a 15-1 league mark. She was selected to the
All-GLIAC Team for the third time that season, earning first-team honors after being
selected to the second team in 1987 and 1986. Tracey was also part of the winningest team
in school history. In her freshman year, 1985, the Pioneers won a school record 33
matches.
Tracey holds the season and career records at Oakland for
kills, total attacks and hitting percentage. She is also the season leader in games played
and the career record holder in matches played. Tracey also served as Oaklands head
volleyball coach last season.
Tracey earned a bachelor of science degree in finance from
Oakland, and along with coaching is the Branch Manager at the Goodrich branch of the
National Bank of Detroit N.A. Tracey and her husband, Timothy, reside in Flint. |
