Tryout Information

The Oakland University Dance Team “Images” will be having tryouts April 1st through the 3rd. An informational meeting will be held on March 31st at 6:00 P.M. in the Athletic Arena. The dance clinics will be April 1st and 2nd from 5:30-9:00 P.M. April 3rd will be the final tryout starting at 5:30 P.M. All questions you may have will be answered at the informational meeting.

At Try-outs, three short routines will be taught. A jazz dance, hip hop dance and fight song will be taught on Tuesday night. Each dance is about 30-45 seconds long. We will also review the required skills that will be part of the audition. Wednesday there will be a review of the routines, technical skills will be judged, and short, informal interviews will be done. Thursday, a panel of judges will be brought in to score each participant on the three dances.

Technical skills are as follows: leap, open leap, switch leap, switch open leap, double/triple pirouette, calypso, fuette turns, and turns in second. These will be reviewed at tryouts.

Dance attire and appropriate dance shoes should be worn on all days. All black should be worn on Thursday. Please bring a picture of yourself to tryouts which we will attach to your applications. Applications will be provided at tryouts.

Dance experience is helpful but not required to make the team.
