About Us

The Oakland University Cheerleading Team is currently made up of 20 women that cheer at all home men’s and women’s basketball games.  The team is All-Girl currently, but is looking to expand to co-ed in the future.  Tryouts for the OU Cheer Team will be held in mid-April 2008.  There will be clinics available in March 2008 for high school seniors who will be attending OU as well as current OU students interested in trying out.  There will be fall walk on tryout for those that missed the spring tryout, but all athletes are highly encouraged to tryout in April as camp is a great learning and team experience!  All the skills we will use for the season will be learned from camp and summer workouts.

OU Cheer practices on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and on Sundays from 7 pm to 9 pm.  A strong commitment will be needed to be successful in this program!

The OU Cheerleading Team attends UCA cheerleading camp (this is mandatory), which traditionally falls in mid to end July, first part of August.  The cheer team will attend along with the OU Dance Team, Images.

OU Cheer will also be competed last year in the 2007 UCA National College Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida, in January 2007.  The team earned a bid into semi-finals...the first time ever submitting a video for Nationals All-Girl in OU Cheerleading history!
